RACING AND SAILING
As a Performance Yacht Racing Trainee you will take part in a fantastic programme of sailing and offshore yacht racing and regatta racing where you will travel to over ten countries and get the opportunity to experience some of the world’s most prestigious and well known yachting events.
RYA Training is delivered through our sister company Global Yacht Training, an accredited Royal Yachting Association school established in 2006.
Hands on experience
You will get experience of operating a race charter vessel, MCA coding requirements, ISAF regulations, yacht preparation for racing, splicing and rope work, engine checks, sail care and repair and will get an insider look at the race yacht charter industry.
Over 10,000 Miles
Over the course of a year you will sail and race in over ten countries, complete a transatlantic race, compete in international regattas and offshore races including the Les Voiles de St Topez, the ARC race, the Rolex Middle Sea Race, RORC Caribbean 600 and Antigua Sailing Week
Gain RYA practical and theory qualifications and receive valuable hands on experience and training that will lead you to a fulfilling career in yacht racing.
You will be mentored and coached by top commercial race skippers Andy Middleton, Christian Reynolds and receive top level sail training from our team of RYA Yachtmaster Instructors.
The full ten month programme starts in August with a passage from UK to the Mediterranean. You will experience sailing in the notorious Bay of Biscay and then sail down the dramatic Atlantic coast of Portugal and Spain to Gibraltar. The passage then continues into the Mediterranean to the south of France for your first regatta which is the glamorous Les Voiles de St Tropez.
The Rolex Middle Sea Race follows, with its dramatic race course passing the active volcano of Stromboli, and picturesque islands of Lampedusa and Pantelleria.
The ARC Transatlantic Race is a must do event for most people, starting in the Canaries and racing across the Atlantic Ocean to the idyllic Caribbean island of St Lucia arriving in time for a fantastic Christmas in the sun.
The Caribbean Regatta Race Season starts in February with the RORC Caribbean 600 and then a full season of regatta racing follows culminating in the famous Antigua Sailing Week before retuning to the UK for the RYA Yachtmaster prep and exam modules.
